My occasional thoughts, comments, and life. Occasional said things become to much and I don't post, but I do remember every once in a while.

Lonaria Prime sits in the Galactic South, near the border of the known Galaxy. Perhaps someday we will mount an expedition to explore further galaxies, but as it is we cannot even reach the nearest solar system outside our own with our current technology. This is our story as we attempt to unify the galaxy under a banner of understanding and peace. My name is Ty Lucas, and I will attempt to relate our story in an accurate and truthful matter.

The deep space probes we had launched years ago with traditional propulsion techniques have returned their map of the galaxy to us. Now we face a galaxy heavily populated by peoples but sparsely inhabited with celestial bodies.

Through our sparse communication with the Terran Alliance we have learned of nine other races whom we share this Galaxy with. We have not encountered any of them in person, even the transfer of Hyperdrive technology from the Terrans was done through deep space probes. For the time being, space and its vastness stand between us and further communication.

However, to prepare for this inevitable event our scientists have embarked upon a quest for the knowledge of how to translate any language instantly. My scientific advisor tells me this could be perfected in as little as five weeks.

Lonaria Prime's manager of the interior has proposed to me a plan for development of planet-wide resources, and as I trust him, I have signed off on the plan.

Meanwhile, our first colonization vessel, the U.B.S Hope, Is scheduled to reach Lonaria II in less than a week's time. Also our experimental Asteroid mining operation has begun and we could begin to see tangible results from it in a little over one standard month.

And finally, the crown jewel of our technology, the U.B.S Vision has begun its exploration of the Galaxy and the treasures therein...

Okay, lemme know what you think. I will post more as I play it, this is an in progress game and may move very slow, especially as I have little time, but i'll post when I can.

A New World.

Our journey into the stars reached its first milestone this week, Lonaria II has been successfully colonized and rush production of a Xeno Lab has been finished. While costly this gives the planet a vital beginning jumpstart. My advisor of the interior has informed me that while the planet is not immediately of a great class, it has much potential through research of improved terraforming techniques. I have inquired to my scientific advisor about beginning this line of research once our communications research is complete. As it stands, this is the plan of social production on Lonaria II.

Meanwhile, no further progressions of our humble civilization have been made. History will gloss over these dull portions, and as a student of history, I shall do the same, so as not to bore you, the new student.

Sounds good so far, I'll watch this one.

One month after we began the research our scientists happily announced the perfection of universal translators. These amazing devices allow us to understand any written or spoken language. We have now begun to explore advanced computing techniques. We hope this will allow us to research theoretical technologies much faster.

--Ty Lucas, February 1st, 2226

The techniques of evolved computing have now been perfected. While it did not yield the improved research time we had hoped for, it did lead to an advancement that has led our social planners to propose what they call a "Technological Capital." Theoretically this massive project could yield research improvements of up to %50. Now, with my social advisors urgings, our scientists have embarked upon planetary improvement technologies. With our limited resources, we must learn to make the most of them, and this scientific pursuit hopes to make that possible.

Life for our citizens is becoming much easier. As promised, the theories driving our most recent research have improve the quality of life. However, my Financial advisor recently brought to my attention that while our national treasury has in fact grown over the past five months, that is due to various treasures the Vision has discovered, and not in fact, to our economy. So it is with this in mind that I direct our scientists to further research the theories behind improved economics.

Coincidentally, on this day construction began on the Technological Capital of which our scientists and building engineers are so proud of. I Eagerly await to see the results.

The worries of a leader weigh heavy upon weary shoulders.

Five trillion twenty eight billion credits in the national treasury, and according to my financial advisor our civilization shall be bankrupt within three years time. In an effort to combat this we have embarked upon a plan to expand our starship's maximum range. Perhaps direct contact with other species we could stimulate our closed economy and spark a financial revolution, guaranteeing our financial future.

One may only hope that our efforts are not in vain.

I feel it necessary to provide some record of the progress of our civilization. One year after our leap into the stars, we have made considerable progress, and even our financial situation is not as dire as it once was. However, we are still trying with every ounce of our effort our people have to reach other civilizations, to build relationships with them and begin to unify this galaxy…

Soon our people and those of other species shall meet face to face, I pray they accept us at face value, for that is all our people have.

So far so good. I like the journal entries to track progress through the slow months - don't be offended if I borrow it some day. I'm playing my first game right now, and since I like AARs so much I may try to contribute. Guess I should start taking notes . . .

I'm watching too...I'm always curious to see how peace-loving civs fare, because it is different from how I generally play.

Sentient species taste better... Sentient species taste better...

Thanks for the replies guys. My next entry will probably be rather short, and there might be a rant involved. I've discovered a slight issue with something I was planning and now I have to work it into the story, but I've got it covered, just have to make it flow right. when you have no other solar systems (even dead ones!) for about 12 sectors around you, life gets real slow for a while...

EDIT: PS: Tolmekian, If you have acccess to it, microsoft's OneNote is amazing for helping with stuff like this, especially because you can just plant pics into it without a second thought for integration with the text. basically what you all see here is exactly what I see. nice way to keep crap organized too

My Economic Advisor nearly exploded with excitement today. He was also moderately angry at the galaxy mapping department, but more excited than anything. Apparently the Vision returned images and coordinates of some sort of exploitable resource. The priority alert was lost on some low level paper shuffler and as a result the resource was not classified until now. It has been classified as an economic resource, which according to my advisor means we can harvest this resource, exactly what it is he was rather vague on, but the important thing is that it can expand our economic base, thus giving our people more time to establish relations with others before going totally bankrupt.

--Ty Lucas, April 1st, 2227

Sadly, our civilization has grown stale over this year. Opinion polls and statistics agencies have not shown the government in a favorable light. However hope begins to bloom in my heart. Massive ships known as constructors are on their way, preparing to mine the economic resource my Advisor was so eager to exploit. But that is not what gives me hope, for that merely makes us rely upon ourselves more. No, my hope lies in reaching out to others, and to this end, we have begun to construct our long range vessel meant to establish a trading route between us and another Galactic species. It is estimated that it shall be concluded in a month and a half. I must begin planning the celebration for its completion, perhaps I can yet help buoy the spirits of our people.

--Ty Lucas, October 1st, 2227

Blast the frail psyche of our species!

Space is a desolate, empty place. The mind of any sentient specie cannot accept this for long periods of time. And at a journey time of roughly three standard years for our long range freighter to reach its ultimate destination, no crew of any species could be expected to remain sane for that time period, according to my newly appointed psychological advisor. How she can know this without having met or studied any of the other sentient species in the Galaxy, I don't know, but she says it, and our current ship crews agree that this is an absurd amount of time to expect anyone to travel in the desolate black.

So how shall we solve this problem? An emergency cabinet meeting, with several experienced starship captains advising, has reached this solution: We will establish our first, non-resource space station. The structure will be a massive endeavor, and we will devote two constructors to it. Our top engineers tell us that they have the plans for a starbase based around economics. This should even help boost revenue from the trade route we hope establish as well as provide a station for crew exchange and refreshing along the way to their destination.

On my own initiative I have instructed our scientists to begin researching better modes of interstellar propulsion.

This shall be my last note for this year, as I now take to the streets in an attempt to lift the spirits of our people.
